I want to again thank all of you who've kept up with my writing and tracked my progress leading up to and during the race. I've had so much support, it's indescribable. And I still owe a lot of return calls and texts. Please be patient with me as I recover, return to work, and all the other obligations life throws at us. Many have asked how my body feels now that it's over. Overall, it's better than I anticipated. I'm beat to shit, make no mistake. But I am at least ambulatory. My feet are much better than I expected, largely thanks to the cutting of my shoes. My legs and feet are swollen but I'm managing it.
As for results, I am content with the performance. I clocked a total of 412 miles and some change, which was good enough to place 3rd overall, 2nd place for males, and 1st place for American finishers. I couldn't have done it without my handlers - my wife, kids, father, and stepmom. Their love, support, and sacrifices were what propelled me to keep grinding during the tough times in the race.
I will be working on a race report, but quickly realize the thing in its entirety is going to be lengthy. And it will take me some time to comprise a complete version. I've decided that I'll publish my report and thoughts here, in segments. I'll do my best to write it while things are still fresh in my memory, while balancing the fatigue that my body and mind feel.
So stay dialed in. I hope my report will take you with me on my journey from pre-race to crossing the finish.

Nice use of the term "handlers!" Johnny will be proud to hear this 😆
